The volume of inactive digital gold, which has not moved for over seven years, has reached a historic peak since the beginning of the year. This observation was made by analysts at OnChainSchool.

In 2023, this figure stood at 59,000 BTC, while in 2024, it rose to 255,000; by the incomplete year of 2025, it is projected to reach 270,000.

«An increasing number of early-era coins are becoming active,» the researchers emphasized.

They identified potential reasons for this trend:

«If this pattern continues, the volume of moved coins could surpass 300,000 BTC in 2025,» analysts shared their forecast.

On-chain expert Darkfost expressed a particular concern regarding the current market situation:

«After peaking at 14,000 BTC in realized profits, long-term holders are still locking in around 12,000 BTC today—this figure remains quite high.»

Nevertheless, the analyst noted that this number is gradually decreasing as the cycle progresses. During the first local peak, it was 26,000 BTC, then it dropped to 24,000 BTC, and most recently to 17,000 BTC.
