США использует ИИ от Google для усиления обороноспособности Translated Headline: The US Leverages Google AI to Strengthen National Defense

The U.S. Department of War (DoW) has launched the GenAI.mil platform to utilize Google’s Gemini for Government in national security efforts.

This enterprise-level solution integrates Google’s cloud services with AI optimization. The platform is certified under the FedRAMP High security standards and the DoW Impact Level 5 (IL5) classification.

The initiative is part of the plan that was introduced in July by the Trump administration, which mandates federal agencies to accelerate the implementation of advanced AI systems.

“Gemini for Government represents American prowess in artificial intelligence, delivering unparalleled analytical and creative capabilities directly to the world’s dominant fighting force,” stated the DoW’s announcement.

Officials from the department revealed that AI-based tools are already operational on Pentagon computers and military installations worldwide.

“The future of American warfare is here, and it’s called AI. As technology evolves, so do our adversaries. But here at the Department of War, we are not idly standing by,” said DoW head Pete Hegseth.

The DoW has made training on the GenAI.mil platform freely accessible to its employees, aimed at enhancing personnel skills for effective utilization of AI capabilities.

The U.S. Department of Defense has ramped up the integration of AI within its military forces, heightening its technological rivalry with China.

“In the global race for AI dominance, second place yields no rewards. Artificial intelligence is the new Manifest Destiny, and we intend to secure our leading position in this sphere,” asserted Emil Michael, the DoW’s Deputy for Research and Engineering.

China views AI as a crucial factor in future conflicts and is moving towards the concept of «intelligent» warfare, with assistance from companies like DeepSeek and others in the tech sector.

Google emphasized that its solution meets the DoW’s requirements: “For decades, Google has collaborated with U.S. government entities at all levels to provide cutting-edge technology,” commented Google CEO Sundar Pichai.

He added that through the implementation of Gemini for Government, over 3 million civilian and military personnel will gain access to «state-of-the-art technology.»

It’s worth noting that in July 2024, 200 employees from Google’s AI division, DeepMind, expressed their dissatisfaction with the tech giant’s involvement in military initiatives.
