From Doubt to Dominance: Shapovalovs Journey to Regain Court Confidence

The 28th-ranked Canadian tennis player, Denis Shapovalov, shared insights before the start of the Toronto Masters in Canada. He discussed the challenges he faced on the court and the goals he set for himself during the ATP 250 tournament in Los Cabos, Mexico, where he triumphed in the final against Alexander Kovacevic with a score of 6:4, 6:2.

«I am pleased with how I performed in each match. After Wimbledon, I had an important discussion with my team. We reflected on my return to the court, analyzing what went wrong prior to this hard court season, as well as what happened in Dallas and Miami, and the difficulties I faced during the clay and grass court tours. We spent a lot of time contemplating these issues and concluded that I had become quite indecisive on the court, had stopped playing freely, and was not going for my shots. The goal in Los Cabos was to better prepare for the upcoming tournaments, to showcase my game, and to play freely and aggressively without focusing on the score or my opponent. I’m happy that I achieved this; I know that when I play this way, things can turn out differently, but that’s what allows me to have weeks like this,» Shapovalov stated, as quoted by Punto de Break.
