Meta представила революционные умные очки Ray-Ban с дисплеем и нейротехнологиями Translation: Meta Unveils Revolutionary Ray-Ban Smart Glasses with Display and Neurotechnology

Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveiled the Meta Ray-Ban Display, marking the debut of the first-ever «smart glasses» featuring an integrated display. Users can navigate the device using hand gestures via a bracelet powered by neurotechnology.

This new gadget serves as a bridge between the Ray-Ban Meta and the experimental augmented reality glasses, Orion, which can overlay 3D images onto a user’s field of vision with the help of a wireless computing module.

The Meta Neural Band bracelet operates on the principles of electromyography and is included with the Meta Ray-Ban Display.

«These glasses embody the classic design you expect from Ray-Ban, but they also represent the first device of this kind with a high-resolution display and a fully functional Meta Neural Band,» Zuckerberg stated.

With this innovative gadget, users can view videos on the screen or see and respond to text messages. The display doesn’t obstruct the user’s view and disappears when idle.

During the demonstration, the Meta CEO attempted multiple times, unsuccessfully, to call Meta’s CTO Andrew Bosworth. «Well, you know, these things happen,» he remarked.

The glasses will be available for purchase in the U.S. starting September 30.

Additionally, Zuckerberg introduced the Oakley Meta Vanguard—smart glasses designed for athletes engaged in extreme sports like snowboarding or mountain biking. They feature a more dynamic design compared to the «traditional version» and include a button for taking photos and recording videos. The price is set at $499.

This device offers up to nine hours of operation on a single charge, captures video in 3K, and is equipped with powerful speakers. It can connect to Garmin fitness watches to monitor heart rates using Meta AI. Pre-orders are now open.

Another new offering is the second-generation version of the original Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. They will retail for $379, up from $299 for the 2023 model. They boast double the battery life—up to eight hours—and come with an upgraded camera capable of shooting in 3K Ultra HD.

Zuckerberg also announced Horizon TV, a service for streaming series, sporting events, and movies via Quest VR headsets. Among the Meta partners providing content for this application are Disney and Universal Pictures.

In July 2024, Zuckerberg previously asserted that in the future, everyone will wear devices powered by artificial intelligence.
