Struggling in Silence: Alina Korneeva Opens Up About Her Emotional Journey Post-Surgery

The 156th-ranked Russian tennis player, Alina Korneeva, shared the challenges she faced during her break from professional play due to an injury. Korneeva spent several months away from the court following wrist surgery and the subsequent recovery process.

«My entire coaching team supported me through this period. In 2024, I didn’t compete for over six months. I shut myself off from everything. I deleted tennis apps and stopped following the results of other players. I didn’t want to watch matches. It was heartbreaking to see others playing while I could only train for an hour each day. It was extremely difficult. There were days when I felt overwhelming anger,» Korneeva told Punto de Break.

Previously, Alina Korneeva claimed victory at the ITF W50 tournament in Évora, Portugal, defeating Spanish player Kaitlyn Quevedo with a score of 6-3, 6-1 in the final.
