Ovechkins Injury Isnt Serious, Says Capitals Coach Karberry

The head coach of the Washington Capitals, **Spencer Carbery**, stated that the injury which caused Russian forward **[Alexander Ovechkin](https://www.example.com/tags/255-aleksandr-ovechkin/)** to leave practice is not a serious concern. This was reported by journalist Sammy Silber on her social media page.

It has been noted that Ovechkin exited the training session for precautionary reasons and is expected to be back on the ice any day now.

In April, the Russian player broke Wayne Gretzky’s record for the most goals scored in NHL regular seasons (894), and he currently has a total of 897 goals.

It’s important to highlight that the 2025-2026 season will mark Ovechkin’s 21st year in the NHL and will be the final year of his current contract with Washington. In 2018, the Capitals, with Ovechkin on the roster, claimed the only Stanley Cup in the franchise’s history.
