Steam to Drop Support for 32-Bit Windows 10 Starting January 2026

A message has appeared on the Steam support page regarding the support for 32-bit Windows systems. Currently, the platform only supports 32-bit Windows 10, and Valve plans to discontinue this support starting January 1, 2026.

According to Valve’s announcement, the transition should not be troublesome, as only 0.01% of Steam users are operating on 32-bit Windows 10. Meanwhile, support for 64-bit Windows 10 will continue, and games designed for 32-bit will still run on this architecture.

The company’s decision stems from the lack of system drivers and other libraries that are essential for the ongoing operation of Steam on older operating systems.

The Steam client on 32-bit Windows 10 will still function; however, it will no longer receive updates, including security patches, after January 1. Steam support will not be able to assist users encountering technical issues related to outdated operating systems and cannot guarantee the continued functionality of the application. To avoid these issues, users of 32-bit Windows 10 are encouraged to upgrade to a 64-bit version of their operating system.
