Manchester City Dominates Napoli with a 2-0 Victory in Champions League Match

Manchester City secured a victory against Napoli in the first round of the Champions League group stage. The match, held at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, ended with a score of 2-0.

The goals were scored by Erling Haaland in the 56th minute and Jérémie Doku in the 65th minute. For the Norwegian player, this goal marked his 50th in the Champions League, achieving this milestone in just 49 matches, setting a new record. Additionally, Haaland matched Thierry Henry’s total number of goals in the prestigious European tournament.

Napoli was reduced to ten men starting from the 21st minute when referee Felix Zwayer issued a red card to Giovanni Di Lorenzo after reviewing the VAR for a foul on Haaland. Just five minutes later, Kevin De Bruyne left the pitch for Napoli, being replaced by Mateus Oliveira.

In their next Champions League match on October 1, Pep Guardiola’s squad will face Monaco away from home. Meanwhile, Antonio Conte’s Napoli will host Sporting Lisbon on the same day.
