Battlefield 6: Developers Share Insights on Pre-Launch Adjustments, Player Preferences, and Exciting Future Content

Electronic Arts and DICE have shared new details regarding Battlefield 6. The developers have summarized the results of the open beta test and outlined the changes made to the game prior to its release.

According to the studio, Battlefield 6 has become the most extensively tested installment in the series, with players logging over 92 million hours of combat during the open beta, and more than thirty test sessions conducted in Battlefield Labs.

Test results indicated that class selection was often influenced by the map. For instance, on “Siege of Cairo,” where battles occur at close range, players favored the Support class, whereas on the “Iberian Offensive,” designed for long-range firefights, Scouts were more commonly selected.

The disparity in player performance between “open” and “closed” playlists turned out to be minimal: statistics such as kills per hour, match duration, and respawn rates showed little variation. Notably, most participants in the beta opted for a mode without restrictions on class weapons. Developers plan to retain this option as the primary mode, while offering separate playlists with designated weapons for classic gameplay enthusiasts.

In the unrestricted mode, players often utilized «non-signature» weapons, yet Scouts still preferred sniper rifles, maintaining a consistent choice across both modes. Overall, no single type of weapon emerged as dominant—the distribution was balanced, indicating a good variety of playstyles and balance.

During the open beta, DICE explored combining multiple modes into one playlist and found that gamers enjoyed these integrated options. At launch, Battlefield 6 will feature both standalone modes and mixed playlists. For example, “Conquest,” “Breakthrough,” and “Escalation” will have dedicated playlists, alongside combined options like “Conquest and Escalation” and “Breakthrough and Rush,” to streamline matchmaking when switching modes.

Portal retains the feature for creating and customizing user scenarios but has been renamed Community in the main menu. This change allows players to more easily find servers and leverage all the functionalities of the “Portal.”

Fresh user scenarios for gameplay variety will also be available at launch. The upgraded Battlefield Portal has received powerful tools, including spatial editing capabilities. Developers are eager to see how players will utilize the new features to craft intriguing content.

The developers have committed to paying close attention to community feedback, adjusting playlists, and regularly introducing new content.

They promise that upcoming seasons will include more content than ever seen in the series before, with more details expected to be revealed in the “near future.”

Additionally, the developers acknowledge the community’s requests for the inclusion of naval battles, the return of small helicopters, the introduction of “Platoons,” and other sought-after features. All player suggestions are being taken into consideration when planning future content.
