Оценка блокчейн-платформы Tempo достигла $5 млрд после успешного раунда финансирования Blockchain platform Tempo valued at $5 billion following successful funding round

Stripe and Paradigm’s blockchain platform, Tempo, has successfully garnered $500 million in a Series A funding round led by Thrive Capital and Greenoaks. This was reported by Fortune based on information from five sources.

The investors have valued the project, which focuses on stablecoins and first-layer payments, at approximately $5 billion.

Participating in this funding round were Sequoia Capital, Ribbit Capital, and SV Angel, while Stripe and Paradigm opted not to increase their investments in Tempo.

The blockchain has been designed as an Ethereum-compatible protocol, specifically optimized for high-speed payments and transactions. According to Patrick Collison, co-founder and CEO of Stripe, several prominent companies, including OpenAI, Shopify, Visa, Anthropic, Standard Chartered, and Deutsche Bank, were initially involved as partners in the network’s development.

On October 17, Georgios Konstantopoulos, CTO of Paradigm, announced that the Ithaca team, known for creating open-source crypto solutions, would join the development of Tempo. He will lead the project while continuing his role at the firm.

Notably, renowned Ethereum developer Dankrad Feist has also announced his transition to Tempo.

«Though payment solutions were the initial focus during the rise of cryptocurrencies, I see a unique opportunity to finally achieve this ambitious goal by diligently working on both the technical and distribution aspects,» the programmer stated.

Since 2018, Feist has been collaborating with the Ethereum Foundation as an independent researcher and became a core team member a year later.

He will continue to serve as a scientific advisor to the foundation on three strategic initiatives: layer one scaling and BLOB objects, as well as user interface improvements.

Despite this, David Hoffman, co-founder of Bankless, labeled Feist’s departure as «an incredible loss for Ethereum.» He acknowledged that the developer will undoubtedly remain a «very vital asset» to the ecosystem, but Tempo will take precedence for him.

Feist emphasized the strong connection between the two blockchains and expressed confidence that the integration of Tempo’s technologies could «push the boundaries of scale and speed» for the second-largest cryptocurrency network by market cap.

«Dankrad was an outstanding researcher who made incredibly valuable contributions to Ethereum, the version we know and love today, including Danksharding, consensus enhancements, and much more. We wish him the best in his new endeavors,» remarked Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum.

To recall, in 2024, Stripe acquired the Web3 company Bridge for $1.1 billion as part of its expansion into the cryptocurrency sector, and in June of this year, it absorbed the wallet infrastructure developer Privy.
