Пользователи выражают недовольство из-за новой модели комиссии Ledger за мультиподписи Translation: Users express dissatisfaction over Ledgers new fee model for multisig transactions.

The newly introduced multisig feature in Ledger wallets has sparked negative feedback from users due to the established basic fees.

Ledger Multisig was unveiled along with the launch of the new hardware model, Nano Gen5. The company also rebranded the Ledger Live app to Ledger Wallet.

The multisig technology has become the first native coordination system from Ledger, enabling the bundling of transactions into clusters through its backend. Previously, users relied on third-party tools like Specter and Sparrow.

However, the initial excitement from the community about the convenience of this technology turned into outrage when the fees became known. According to the project’s website, in addition to covering gas fees on the blockchain, users will also have to pay for «maintenance services.»

The fee structure includes two variables:

Compounding the confusion was a post from Ledger’s CTO, Charles Guillemet, who stated that the «best part» of the update is the «free» Ledger Multisig. He later admitted that this was a «typo.»

Guillemet clarified that the charges reflect the cost of maintaining the infrastructure and auditing necessary to support the enhanced security levels of the service.

Blockchain researcher and developer pcaversaccio branded the company’s strategy as a «cash cow.» He remarked that this approach could turn multisig users into a source of corporate revenue.

Developer Sarnavo from the Avalanche ecosystem added that «trust functions are now becoming a paid service.» He also pointed out the closed-source nature of the Ledger app itself.

«Security should not monetize every transaction,» he emphasized.

It’s worth noting that in July, Ledger announced the cessation of software updates for the Nano S hardware wallet due to its limited memory.
