Herbert Slams Stewards for Ignoring Cut Corners at the Start of F1 Mexican GP

Former Formula 1 driver **Johnny Herbert** has criticized the race stewards for their lack of penalties concerning track cuts at the start of the Mexican Grand Prix.

“The stewards usually turn a blind eye to this because the tires are cold, and the drivers aren’t fully prepared to handle that speed. If something happens, they tend not to impose a penalty. I disagree with that. These individuals are the best drivers in the world, and as we saw in Mexico, did all the ones who cut corners benefit in the first lap? Probably, because they all managed to avoid consequences.

However, the first lap is judged differently from the rest, which is why no penalties were handed out. I don’t agree with that. I believe it’s unfair. Cold tires are part of racing. They just need to be a bit smarter,” Herbert’s comments were reported by Racingnews365.
