Max Verstappen Reflects on His Remarkable Comeback from 19th to Podium at the F1 Brazilian Grand Prix

The 28-year-old Dutch driver and four-time Formula 1 champion, **[Max Verstappen](https://www.racingnews365.com)**, who races for Red Bull, shared his feelings about his impressive rise from 19th to 3rd position during the Brazilian Grand Prix.

«When I got behind the wheel, I was just hoping the car would be more competitive. I can say that even on the way to the starting grid, the car felt better than it had all weekend. After the start, when I had that puncture and ended up last again, I thought to myself, ‘Oh man, this weekend is clearly not mine.’ But then you just get used to it. You try to do everything you can: overtake the cars in front and stick to the optimal strategy. And it all paid off.

All our decisions as a team turned out to be the right ones. Eventually, you find yourself fighting for a podium spot — you realize this about 10-12 laps before the end. It’s a great feeling. However, during the race, I don’t make any predictions. I just focus on the moment and try to complete each lap as consistently as possible. Apart from that, the main takeaway is that we found a much better feel for the car again by changing a few settings. At the same time, it was noticeably colder on the track, which may have also played a role,» Verstappen told Racingnews365.
