Stankovic Leaves Spartak After Five Days, Citing Desire to Be with Family

On Tuesday, November 11, Spartak announced the departure of Dejan Stanković from the position of head coach. On Thursday, November 6, the Serbian specialist expressed that he was feeling exhausted by the surrounding circumstances and wished to return home to his wife and daughter. However, Stanković clarified that he was not resigning. This announcement came on the heels of the red-and-whites’ victory over Lokomotiv with a score of 3-1 in the quarterfinals of the Fonbet Cup of Russia.

Stanković had been the head coach of Spartak since the summer of 2024. Prior to his appointment at the Moscow club, the 47-year-old had coaching stints with Ferencváros, Sampdoria, and Red Star Belgrade.

After 15 rounds of the current season in the Russian Premier League, Spartak accumulated 25 points and currently sits in sixth place.
