Leaked Details and Screenshots of Far Cry 7 Surface Online

Data miners have delved into the files of the now-defunct XDefiant and uncovered notable images linked to the upcoming Far Cry 7. This discovery was soon discussed by reputable insider Tom Henderson, who sought to clarify certain aspects.

As Henderson pointed out, the data miners misinterpreted their findings. They claimed that the screenshots supposedly depicted Alaska; however, players can clearly see jungles and Mayan pyramids, indicating a setting in Mexico.

This confusion arose due to the somewhat unstable development process of the game. Initially, Far Cry 7 was in development under the codename Talisker, but the project was later rebooted, splitting the title into two parts. The multiplayer mode was designated as a separate project — an extraction shooter set in Alaska with the working title Maverick, while the main Far Cry 7 was given the codename Blackbird.

According to Henderson, the events of Blackbird will indeed take place in Mexico. In one of the screenshots, players might spot a giant rat dragging a human corpse, hinting at a storyline element that has persisted since the Talisker project — players will encounter mutated beasts that have escaped from scientists following experiments.

Henderson specified that mutants will appear only in Blackbird, while Maverick will feature the typical wildlife like wolves and bears, which will challenge players alongside enemy combatants and AI soldiers during their evacuation efforts.

The future of the Far Cry series now rests with Vantage Studios — a newly established subsidiary of Ubisoft comprised of staff from studios in Montreal, Quebec, Saguenay, Sherbrooke, Barcelona, and Sofia. Far Cry 7 has yet to be officially announced, leaving fans with no choice but to await the debut trailer in the near future.
