Rallying Redefined: Gamers Embrace the Thrills of Assetto Corsa Rally in Early Access

Yesterday, the early access version of Assetto Corsa Rally was released, a rally simulator from the renowned Assetto Corsa series. According to feedback from players, fans of tackling muddy terrains, navigating sharp curves, listening to the throaty engine sounds, and the smooth guidance of a co-driver have been treated to another robust racing experience.

Overall, the gaming community has responded positively to Assetto Corsa Rally. At the time of writing, the game boasts a solid 84% positive rating on Steam. Many players highlight the excellent physics, a true feeling of vehicle weight, and a notable difficulty level that «encourages players to learn all over again.» A significant number of users see AC Rally as a spiritual successor to Richard Burns Rally, but presented in a more modern and refined way. The visuals also receive praise—detailed tracks, realistic lighting, dynamic weather, and well-executed effects. On high-end PCs, the game maintains a smooth frame rate, all thanks to Unreal Engine 5.

Many believe that the early access project already demonstrates significant potential. Despite the limited selection of tracks and vehicles, there’s enough content to appreciate the new physics. There are expectations for future development, particularly with the anticipated support for Steam Workshop.

However, the game hasn’t escaped criticism. Some players are dissatisfied with the grip sensation, claiming that the car feels as if it «floats,» braking can be difficult, and the vehicle’s behavior on grass seems «unrealistic.» Others feel that the steering feedback is still underdeveloped—too many vibrations and insufficient information about the vehicle’s weight. There are also complaints regarding the lack of a speed sensation; for example, 150 km/h might feel like just 60.

Concerns extend to visibility, sound, optimization on mid-range graphics cards, and steering adjustments—especially for owners of older models like the G27. A small group of players considers the current physics completely flawed and suggests waiting for updates.

Considering the experiences from previous installments in the series, one can reasonably anticipate one of the best rally simulators on the market, but that may only come after a few years as the project needs some time to «mature» in early access. Nevertheless, even now, enthusiasts of such racing games will find plenty of content available.

Participation in the ongoing evolution of Assetto Corsa Rally is limited to PC users via Steam. The game currently does not feature a Russian language option. Until November 27, the project is available on the Valve platform at a delightful 20% discount.
