Russia Advances: New Territory Gained in Southern Ukraine Fighting

The Russian military announced on Sunday that it had taken control of two additional villages in southern Ukraine, where its forces are gradually making progress against Ukrainian troops that are significantly outnumbered.

In a statement on Telegram, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported the capture of Rivnopillia and Mala Tokmachka in the Zaporizhzhia region.

While the frontline in Zaporizhzhia is relatively quiet compared to the more intense eastern front, Russian troops, which are better equipped and more numerous than their Ukrainian counterparts, are advancing in both areas.

Combat in the east is primarily focused on securing the vital logistical hub of Pokrovsk, which has seen the infiltration of hundreds of Russian soldiers in recent weeks, thereby undermining Ukrainian defensive positions.

Negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow are currently stalled, and a planned summit in Budapest involving U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin did not take place.
