Berrettini Reflects on the Impact of the Davis Cup: A Key Motivation in His Recovery Journey

The 56th-ranked Italian tennis player, Matteo Berrettini, shared his thoughts on the significance of participating in the 2025 Davis Cup Final, especially in light of his recovery from injury.

«It holds immense importance for me. It has always mattered a lot. Over time, I’ve come to realize that the emotions and the atmosphere—these are what truly make me feel alive in this sport.

I understand that there are no ATP ranking points involved here. I know many people say that the competition has lost its value in recent years. However, for me personally, it represents the best experiences. I’m not talking just about the gameplay, but about the pride, teamwork, and the chemistry among players.

This is incredibly important and has significantly helped me, particularly in the last two years when I faced challenges. At times, it was hard to find the motivation to come back. The Davis Cup was one of those motivating factors. I’m really happy that I persevered through everything and can now enjoy these moments,” Berrettini said during the press conference for the 2025 Davis Cup in Bologna.
