Ukraine Repatriates 1,000 Fallen Soldiers in Latest Military Exchange with Russia

Ukraine announced on Thursday that it had received the remains of 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers who had been killed, marking the latest repatriation exchange between the two conflicting nations.

«Today, repatriation activities were conducted. One thousand corpses, which the Russian side asserts are those of Ukrainian servicemen, have been returned to Ukraine,» stated Kyiv’s Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War via social media.

The agency further mentioned that investigators and specialists «will soon perform all necessary examinations to identify the returned remains.»

Russian state media, quoting unnamed sources, reported that the remains of the 1,000 deceased Ukrainian soldiers were exchanged for the bodies of 30 Russian soldiers.

As per publicly available records, Ukraine has received a total of 15,000 repatriated bodies from Russia since the onset of the full-scale invasion.
