Balancer запускает программу компенсации для жертв взлома на $128 млн Translation: Balancer launches compensation program for victims of $128 million hack

The team behind the Balancer DeFi protocol has proposed to distribute approximately $8 million among community members affected by a hacking incident.

According to the announcement, this amount was recovered thanks to white hat hackers and other efforts. In total, around $28 million was saved, but $19.7 million, represented as osETH and osGNO, remains locked in the StakeWise liquid staking protocol.

On November 3, Balancer was subjected to a hack, resulting in the theft of digital assets worth $128 million. Project representatives stated that the vulnerability was located in a key component of the platform—Composable Stable pools.

The reimbursement plan stipulates that assets will only be returned to liquidity providers in the affected pools.

Distribution of the funds will be proportional to the number of tokens locked at the time of the hack. The assets will be sent in kind.

A portion of the funds will be allocated as rewards for six white hat hackers who successfully recovered a total of $3.86 million. They will each receive 10% of the amount of the recovered assets.

The largest recovery came from a hacker known as Anon #1, who returned $2.68 million on the Polygon network. A cybersecurity expert from BitFinding saved $963,832 in Ethereum.

To be eligible for rewards, they must verify their identities through a KYC procedure. Because of this requirement, one of the white hat hackers declined the reward.

Balancer has set a 180-day deadline for submitting claims. Unclaimed assets will be transferred to the project’s treasury.

It is worth noting that following the hack, the Berachain blockchain had to conduct an emergency hard fork.
