Farcaster фокусируется на кошельке, оставляя социальные сети позади Translation: Farcaster Shifts Focus to Wallet Development, Leaving Social Networks Behind

The DeSoc project, developed by Farcaster, is set to focus on enhancing its wallet service. Co-founder Dan Romero explained that their previous social media-oriented strategy was unsuccessful.

He noted that over the span of four and a half years, the emphasis on social features did not meet expectations.

*“We are doubling down on the wallet, as it is showing growth. New features and product positioning will revolve around it,”* wrote Romero.

He admitted that the team struggled to establish a sustainable growth model for their X alternative. However, the previously launched integrated wallet has been performing well. According to the developers, after five years, this product has come closest to addressing the real needs of the audience.

Farcaster intends to integrate social options within the wallet based on the existing infrastructure, anticipating that asset holders will eventually participate in the protocol.

The community responded to the announcement with mixed feelings. Supporters view this move as a pragmatic approach to scalability, while critics are concerned about a potential culture shift that could transform the project into a tool solely for traders.

The protocol operates on Ethereum’s L2 networks, including Base. In the fourth quarter, Farcaster reported revenue of $1.84 million, marking an 85% decrease compared to the same period last year.

As a reminder, in October 2024, Farcaster’s revenue had dropped by 96% from the peaks seen in February.
