Uniswap запускает новый этап с комиссиями и сжигает токены Translation: Uniswap launches a new phase with fees and token burning

The founder of Uniswap, Hayden Adams, has unveiled the final version of the UNIfication proposal aimed at governing the protocol. This initiative will activate the «fee switch.»

Voting will take place from December 19th to December 25th. Adams urged delegates to make their decision before the holidays:

«Make your decision before Christmas or you’ll end up on Santa’s naughty list.»

This follows a discussion with the community initiated by Uniswap Labs and the Uniswap Foundation. A key modification is the activation of the «fee switch,» which will redirect a portion of the trading fee revenue that previously went entirely to liquidity providers towards the protocol.

The authors of the initiative mentioned that they had postponed this decision for years due to the unfriendly stance of the SEC under Gary Gensler. They believe that the current situation has changed.

If the proposal is approved, the protocol will undertake a series of actions:

The implementation of the fees will be gradual to minimize risks. The fee structure for Uniswap v4 will be addressed in a separate vote.

The proposal also includes a restructuring of governance. Uniswap Labs will enter into a legally binding agreement in accordance with the Wyoming Non-Profit Corporation Law. This aims to align the interests of the company and token holders.

Uniswap Labs will take on the operational responsibilities previously handled by the Uniswap Foundation. The company will waive fees for the interface and wallet but will receive an annual budget of 20 million UNI from the treasury starting in 2026 to support project development.

At the time of writing, the price of UNI has increased by 2.5% to $5.027.

Recall that in November, Uniswap introduced the Continuous Clearing Auctions solution for fair pricing during the issuance of new tokens.
