Undertale Sets New Steam Concurrent Player Record a Decade After Release

The iconic indie game project Undertale continues to astonish the gaming community. Almost ten years after its initial launch, the game has set a new record for concurrent users on Steam, peaking at 11,071 players last weekend. This information has been reported by the media, citing SteamDB data.

The previous record stood at 10,473 players at its peak. This new surge in interest can be attributed to the spring sale on Steam, where the game is currently available for just 24 rubles.

According to posts on X, many players are returning to Undertale to relive the adventures of Frisk, while newcomers are discovering this world thanks to the discount.

Originally funded through Kickstarter, Undertale became a phenomenon due to its combat system, narrative, and atmosphere. Here, you can find out why we rated the project as «amazing», albeit a bit late.

Currently, Toby Fox is working on the episodic role-playing game Deltarune. This project continues the ideas and style of Fox’s previous work, but incorporates new mechanics and a fresh storyline. As of September last year, two out of three final chapters were almost complete. The first two chapters are available to play for free on PC (Steam, itch.io), PlayStation, and Switch, but subsequent chapters will be available for purchase as a single bundle. There is no release date or Russian localization yet.
