Bortoleto Reflects on His Supportive Friendship with Verstappen

The driver of the «Kik-Zouber» team, Gabriel Bortoleto, shared insights about his relationship with four-time Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen from Red Bull, highlighting the support the Dutchman has given him throughout various stages of his career.

“Max and I have had a solid friendship for quite a while now. It’s become more evident in the media lately, as we’ve been spending time together, streaming, and playing games. However, we actually grew closer when we began racing in Formula 1 together,” said Bortoleto, according to Racingnews365.

The Brazilian noted that Verstappen had provided assistance during his time in the junior categories, particularly in making critical career decisions.

“I often sought his advice—even on contract matters. When I was about to sign with McLaren, I asked for his input. The same went for my transition to Kik-Zouber. He never dictated my choices, but he consistently shared his perspective, which I found incredibly valuable,” explained the Kik-Zouber driver.

Bortoleto also mentioned that they frequently train together using a simulator and compete against each other.

“We collaborate on the simulator, aiming to achieve fast lap times and pushing each other to improve. I hope I’ve also been able to assist Max in some way. At least there has to be a reason why he engages in this, right?” concluded Bortoleto.
