Potential Delays for PlayStation 6 and New Xbox Due to Memory Crisis

Due to the current surge in demand for RAM, Sony and Microsoft may delay the launch of their next-generation gaming consoles, according to Insider Gaming. Initially, the release of the PlayStation 6 and the new Xbox was scheduled for 2027.

Insider Tom Henderson also pointed out that if RAM prices remain high, there could be a price increase for all gaming consoles in 2026.

The rise in memory costs is attributed to the popularity of neural networks—companies like OpenAI, xAI, Google, and others are heavily purchasing memory to support ChatGPT, Grok, Gemini, and various other language models. As a result, the price of RAM has surged to levels comparable to high-end gaming graphics cards and MacBooks.
