Rainbow Six Siege Servers Reconnected After Hacker Attack

Unforeseen downtime from Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege due to a hacking incident has concluded, with Ubisoft announcing that the shooter has been reconnected to the internet. Players can now log in to the game, although the in-game store remains unavailable.

The Ubisoft team has restored the servers of Rainbow Six Siege to their state prior to the hack, reversing billions in in-game currency that had been improperly credited by hackers. In total, players temporarily received credits amounting to a staggering 339 trillion dollars. It’s worth noting that, as a result of the hackers’ actions, gamers were also granted access to all in-game items, including those exclusive to certain events.

Following a brief quality assessment of the restored version, Ubisoft began gradually allowing users back into R6S—the game was offline for approximately a day and a half. Around 5 AM Moscow time, the gateway was fully opened, enabling unrestricted access to the game. However, some players may still experience connection queues as the shooter’s services ramp back up.

Ubisoft has warned that after the server rollback, some players might notice changes in their inventories. This situation affects only those who logged into the game between December 27 at 1:49 PM Moscow time and December 29. «A small percentage of gamers may temporarily lose some of their items. We are already working on a solution to this problem, and it may take up to two weeks to resolve,» the company explained.

The Rainbow Six Siege marketplace will remain offline while the investigation is ongoing.

Indeed, changes have occurred, with some players reporting that their in-game currency balances have turned negative. Previously, Ubisoft clarified that they do not intend to ban anyone for utilizing credits awarded by hackers.

The company has not provided specific details about the incident and has not disclosed whether any sensitive information was compromised during the attack on Ubisoft. Meanwhile, rumors are circulating online that two hacker groups targeted the “Ubisoft,” with one causing chaos in Rainbow Six Siege and the other allegedly acquiring internal materials from the studio. There were also some individuals attempting to exploit the situation, but they have already been identified.
