The screenwriter of Fallout: New Vegas, Chris Avellone, recently expressed his strong opinions regarding Bethesda‘s approach to the iconic franchise. In a now-deleted post, he asserted that the studio, in his view, does not fully grasp the origins of Fallout and largely lacks interest in them.

Avellone is a pivotal figure for the franchise’s fanbase. Fans were quick to amplify the post, with gaming media and users on X particularly enthusiastic in sharing his quotes. Avellone eventually removed the post, with the reasons for this decision remaining unclear. It is possible that he reacted to the negative feedback from segments of the community who defend the current direction of the franchise.

Over the years under Bethesda‘s management, the Fallout series has undergone significant transformations. Fallout 4 was a commercial success, while Fallout 76 shifted the franchise into the realm of live-service games. Additionally, the first season of the «Fallout» series, created in collaboration with Bethesda and Amazon, premiered in 2024. The show has been renewed, and many concepts resonant with the spirit of New Vegas are now being reinterpreted in a television format.
