Barinov: I Am Not a Traitor — A Heartfelt Message to Lokomotiv Fans After Joining CSKA

Former midfielder and captain of Lokomotiv, **Dmitry Barinov**, reached out to the fans of the railway club following his transfer to CSKA.

«Dear friends,

As you know, I have always been open and straightforward, sometimes even too much so. For quite a while, I have yearned for clarity in my life.

Back in December, I informed the coaching staff and the management of my decision, understanding that the negativity surrounding me could impact the team in the latter part of the season. That is not the legacy I wish to leave behind.

I certainly do not intend to speak poorly of the previous management or delve into the details of the negotiations in this message. I wish nothing but success to the new management, as they have a significant journey ahead.

Without a doubt, I can say that this is the most challenging decision I’ve ever made. I joined Lokomotiv at 15, and now I am 29. During this time, we celebrated championship victories, secured Cups, and the Super Cup. I am immensely grateful to everyone who has been alongside me – every coach and teammate, as well as the team’s and club’s staff. To all who have played a part in my path and life. Most importantly, I want to thank the fans.

It’s disheartening to read some of your negative comments. However, I too have expressed emotions at times, and you have accepted me as I am. Each one of us has the right to our opinions and feelings. But all I feel is gratitude for our supporters over these years: for the «Steel Rail,» for shared moments of joy, and even during the tough times. We have journeyed together for half my life, and I take pride in our story – I ask that you do not rewrite it. I am neither a traitor nor a Judas.

Yes, I made the decision to leave my home, but I am absolutely certain of one thing: Lokomotiv and its fans will always hold a special place in my heart,» Barinov wrote on his social media account.
