Semak Discusses Jersons Impressions After Joining Zenit

The head coach of Zenit, **Sergey Semak**, shared his thoughts on the adaptation of Brazilian newcomer **Gerson**. The central midfielder joined the blue-white-sky blues on Sunday, July 13.

**— What are your initial impressions of Gerson, and when do you plan to integrate him into the main squad?**
— We haven’t had a chance to form any initial impressions yet, as he has not trained with the team at all. Today, he underwent testing, and tomorrow he will be engaged in individual work. Therefore, he will only start training with the team the day after tomorrow. We’ll assess his readiness, see what kind of work he can do with the group, and then make conclusions. In general, we are certainly looking forward to when he can reach his optimal form. He is an important player, with high quality, capable of covering multiple positions. We hope for a swift adaptation and that he will contribute to our team, — said Semak, as reported by the official Zenit website.

Gerson played for Flamengo from 2019 to 2021 and again since 2023. During his time with the Brazilian club, he appeared in 253 matches, scoring 19 goals and providing 34 assists. He has also represented the Brazilian national team in 14 matches, netting one goal.
