ARK 2 Delayed Again: New Release Target Set for 2028

**Studio Wildcard** announced **ARK 2** back in 2020 and has postponed its release multiple times since then. Recently, the developers have done it once more—this time, the launch is now slated for no earlier than 2028. Additionally, a roadmap has been revealed for **ARK: Survival Ascended**, a remaster of **Survival Evolved**.

**ARK: Survival Ascended** will receive seven major expansions, with the first set to debut in the first quarter of 2026 and the seventh planned for the fourth quarter of 2027. The upcoming expansion titled **Legacy of Santiago** will likely not be the final update for the game but will bridge the storyline to the events of **ARK 2**.

**Jeremy Stieglitz**, co-founder of **Studio Wildcard**, clarified that this “testing phase” reduces the risks for the team. If any issues arise, developers can promptly refine the content within the already operational game while gathering extensive feedback. The studio is exercising caution with **ARK 2** partly due to challenges encountered during the launch of **ARK: Survival Ascended**. For instance, the console release was labeled by Digital Foundry as the “most poorly optimized game on Unreal Engine 5.”

Stieglitz also mentioned **Vin Diesel’s** involvement in the project. Recall that he appeared in the announcing trailer and holds a position as one of the producers, motivated by his deep passion for the original **ARK**. **Studio Wildcard** has crafted an ambitious narrative for **ARK 2**, but “a lot will depend on the actual level of involvement from **Vin Diesel**,” as there is still some uncertainty regarding this matter.

**ARK 2** is set to launch on PC (via [Steam](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2050420/ARK_2/?snr=1_7_7_popularwishlist_150_1)) and Xbox Series. Currently, only English is confirmed among the supported languages.
