Arne Slot Reflects on Liverpools Season So Far: A Constant Battle for Improvement

Liverpool’s head coach, **Arne Slot**, addressed the team’s performance in the first half of the season ahead of the 20th round of the English Premier League against Fulham. The reigning Premier League champions currently sit in fourth place, trailing leaders Arsenal by 12 points.

“Realistically, I think there are two teams that stand out – and Aston Villa is quite close to our level. However, since Arsenal managed to win against Villa, they have somewhat distanced themselves from them. These two teams are quite far ahead of us, and we shouldn’t focus too much on them right now. We’ve faced challenges throughout the season. We started off strong in terms of results, but the matches were very intense. Then we hit a phase where we continued to play tough games, but luck didn’t seem to be on our side. Right now, I believe we haven’t lost in the last seven or eight matches; however, saying that may give the impression that we’re smoothly sailing through the league, which isn’t the case.

Each match is hard work, and the teams are quite evenly matched. Generally, we might be slightly better than some teams, but not by much; we’re often within that 20% difference. If you find yourself in that 20%, any little mistake can significantly impact the outcome. I will keep pushing, and the players will continue to fight to reach a state where we can surpass that 20% difference, allowing us to expand our lead. Hopefully, we will discover moments when we can launch forward throughout the season. However, the first 19 games have been a constant struggle; we’ve been closely matched, sometimes we’ve had a bit of luck, and other times we haven’t,” Slot’s comments were reported by Liverpool’s official website.

Aston Villa currently occupies the third position in the Premier League table, sitting six points ahead of the Merseysiders.
