Back on the Court: Kyrgios Reflects on His First Singles Match in Nearly Two Years

The 670th-ranked player in the world and Wimbledon 2022 finalist, Australian tennis player **Nick Kyrgios**, shared his thoughts following his first-round loss at the ATP 250 tournament in Brisbane. Kyrgios was defeated by American **Alexander Kovacevic** with a score of 3-6, 4-6. This match marked Kyrgios’s first singles appearance since March 2025.

«It was a great experience. The past month has been very busy and enjoyable. Of course, the outcome wasn’t what I had hoped for. But you know, my journey with the Australian media and fans has always been challenging, and now, at this stage of my career, every time I step onto the court, it’s always a good time.

I really felt a lot of support, especially when the little kids chant my name and have fun. I realize I’m putting on a good show, and hopefully, if they fall in love with tennis, one day they’ll step onto a court like this themselves.

It was a real pleasure to play here, particularly in Brisbane, which is one of my favorite places to compete,» Kyrgios stated at the tournament press conference in Brisbane.
