Cloudflare, a prominent network services provider, has announced a partnership with leading payment companies to develop a solution for agentic commerce. This collaboration will enable AI agents to make purchases from millions of merchants worldwide, as stated in the press release.

In a joint effort, Cloudflare and Visa have created the Trusted Agent Protocol—a solution that allows payment networks to incorporate Web Bot Auth. This enables sellers to engage securely and transparently with the «next generation of purchasing AI agents.»

Visa plans to integrate this new technology into its Visa Intelligent Commerce platform.

Additionally, Cloudflare is collaborating with Mastercard and American Express to implement Web Bot Auth. The European payment company will incorporate the protocol into Mastercard Agent Pay, while American Express will also utilize the tool in its agentic commerce program.

Digital assistants developed with the Cloudflare Agents SDK will soon be able to use the protocols for autonomous purchasing.

«The future of commerce is agentic, and Cloudflare is laying a solid foundation for it,» stated Cloudflare’s Chief Strategy Officer, Stephanie Cohen.

Web Bot Auth, introduced in 2025, allows bots and agents to authenticate themselves. With its integration into the Trusted Agent Protocol, merchants can identify the identity and intent of agent traffic and securely accept various payment methods, including credit and debit cards, cryptocurrencies, and more.

It is worth noting that in July, Cloudflare launched the Pay per Crawl service, which creates a content marketplace for authors and AI companies.

In September, the network services provider revealed plans to launch the NET Dollar stablecoin.
