Crystal Dynamics Faces Fourth Round of Layoffs Amid Staff Restructuring

The studio **Crystal Dynamics** is once again reducing its workforce. The company has confirmed that approximately 30 employees from various departments have been laid off. This marks at least the fourth round of layoffs in the past two years.

In a **statement**, the team clarified that they are reorganizing internal processes to expedite development on the upcoming **Tomb Raider** title. The management asserts that this restructuring will benefit not only the main franchise but also future projects.

“Today we made a difficult but necessary decision to reorganize the teams at **Crystal Dynamics**. As part of this restructuring and preparation for the next phase of our business, we’re parting ways with just under 30 employees from different departments and projects. **Crystal** sincerely appreciates all those affected by these changes for their talent, hard work, and dedication, which have significantly shaped our studio. We are committed to providing all possible support and resources during this transition,” the statement reads.

To our players: As the industry continues to evolve, we are forced to make tough decisions to ensure the future development of our flagship **Tomb Raider** series and to prepare the studio for creating new projects ahead.

We value the ongoing support from players, colleagues, and partners during this challenging time, and we look forward to the moment when we can unveil new projects from our team.

The studio expressed gratitude to the laid-off employees for their “talent, work, and dedication” and promised support throughout the transition.

Previously, **Crystal Dynamics** had faced similar layoffs. In August, the studio announced job losses shortly after the cancellation of the **Perfect Dark** reboot, which it was developing in collaboration with **Microsoft**. In March of this year, the company laid off another 17 people, stating it needed to align the team with current objectives. Then, in September 2023, the studio underwent an internal restructuring, which also led to job cuts.

It’s worth noting that in 2022, it was revealed that the next **Tomb Raider** game would be published by **Amazon**. Despite the staff reductions, **Crystal Dynamics** continues its development efforts.
