Gameplay Trailer Released for GRAFT – A Unique Horror RPG by the Shadowrun Trilogy Creators

The creators of the Shadowrun trilogy from Harebrained have recently released a gameplay trailer for their new project, GRAFT, an isometric horror RPG set in a post-cyberpunk world. This is the second trailer since the game’s announcement last year.

To recap, at the beginning of 2024, the Harebrained team became independent after parting ways with Paradox, a split prompted by the disappointing launch of the tactical RPG The Lamplighters League. With newfound autonomy, the developers are now working on their latest RPG, which invites players to explore a dying generation ship, as large as a continent. Once, its inhabitants worked collaboratively toward a noble goal, but due to a catastrophe, the «Ark» has transformed into a dark realm where survival is a relentless battle.

Within this setting begins the journey of the main character, who merely seeks to escape. The plot prominently features the Ship of Theseus paradox: «Can a ship still be considered the same if all of its parts have been replaced over time?» Much like the Ship of Theseus, the protagonist can gain new abilities by merging biotechnological implants obtained from enemies.

The twist, however, is that each augmentation carries the imprint of its previous owner, whether it be behaviors or entire memories of distinct individuals. Consequently, players will face the challenge of whether the hero can complete his quest while maintaining his identity or if he will end up as someone entirely different by the conclusion. In terms of gameplay, the title will offer real-time isometric battles, incorporating mechanics from classic Survival Horror games, where every resource counts.

A release date for GRAFT has yet to be announced. Currently, the game is only confirmed for PC, available on Steam and Epic Games Store, and will feature Russian text localization.
