Google запускает масштабную интеграцию ИИ в Chrome для всех пользователей Translation: Google launches extensive AI integration in Chrome for all users

Google Corporation will begin the integration of Gemini into Chrome for all PC and mobile users in the United States. Previously, the AI was available exclusively to subscribers of Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra.

Users will have the ability to ask the chatbot to comprehend the contents of a web page, manage multiple tabs, or execute various actions within a single tab. For instance, they could schedule a meeting or find a video on YouTube.

«We are evolving the browser to ensure you can extract the maximum from the internet—using methods that seemed impossible just a few years ago. And we are doing this while maintaining the speed, simplicity, and security of Chrome that so many people appreciate,» noted Rick Osterloh, Senior Vice President of Platforms and Devices at the company.

Soon, the AI will be capable of locating web pages that the user visited previously. Users will be able to ask questions such as, «On which website did I see that walnut table last week?»

The new Gemini integration in Chrome features enhanced connectivity with Google applications like Calendar, YouTube, and Maps, allowing access to services without navigating to different pages.

The company is also introducing an advanced AI Mode search feature directly in the Chrome address bar. This will enable users to pose complex questions and dive deeper into topics with follow-up queries.

The update is set to roll out in September in English in the USA, with plans to expand to other countries later.

Google also announced that soon Chrome will be able to use the Gemini Nano model to detect and guard against fraudulent schemes such as fake virus warnings and sweepstakes.

The browser remains a primary tool for internet access and is increasingly becoming a battleground for dominance in consumer AI.

For years, Google and Apple have controlled this sector, which led the U.S. Department of Justice to attempt to compel the American corporation to sell Chrome as part of an antitrust case. However, the court rejected this idea.

Meanwhile, Apple is planning to launch its own web search based on neural networks, integrating it into the Siri voice assistant.

AI competitors are offering their own solutions. In January, the OpenAI startup introduced an agent called «Operator,» which can perform tasks online on behalf of the user.

In August, Anthropic unveiled an extension in Chrome for the AI agent Claude, and a month earlier, Perplexity launched its own AI-based web browser, Comet.

Google announced new agent capabilities for Gemini in Chrome. Agentic AI will allow the creation of customized services capable of performing specific functions.

In the coming months, users will be able to delegate tasks to the service like booking a haircut or ordering groceries for the week. These functions were previously available in the internal Project Mariner initiative.

PayPal announced a strategic partnership with Google to develop new commerce solutions utilizing the corporation’s AI technologies. In turn, the payment company’s tools will be integrated into the American corporation’s products. Collaboration with its cloud division is also planned to host and enhance the technological infrastructure.

The companies did not specify which exact agent trading capabilities they plan to develop. It is only known that Google will provide its AI and expertise, while PayPal will leverage its global payment infrastructure, personalization, and identification solutions.

Additionally, both firms will join other participants to promote the Agent Payments Protocol.

As part of the agreement, PayPal will become a key payment provider for services such as Google Cloud, Google Ads, and Google Play.

Google announced that users will be able to transfer their Gems—personalized AI assistants and experts designed for specific tasks.

They were introduced in 2024 as part of the paid subscription Gemini Advanced. With this feature, users can set instructions and receive a chatbot for specific scenarios.

The company has offered ready-made AI assistants: a study mentor, brainstorming partner, career consultant, text editor, and programming buddy.

Now, the corporation has enabled users to share settings with friends, family, or colleagues. This helps avoid situations where different users create the same assistants. This new feature will also be useful for collaborating on family vacation plans, menu preparation, or group projects.

Recall, in August, Google launched AI Mode in 180 countries.
