Intel Unveils XeSS 3: Revolutionizing Frame Generation Technology

Intel has officially announced a new version of its upscaling technology called XeSS 3, which will introduce support for Multi-Frame Generation. This feature operates on the same principle as NVIDIA’s DLSS 4, utilizing artificial intelligence to generate intermediate frames that enhance image smoothness and framerate. The launch of Intel XeSS 3 is anticipated in 2026.

The updated XeSS will offer options for 2x, 3x, and 4x modes to achieve increased performance. However, it is essential to have a base framerate of at least 45 frames per second for optimal functionality.

One of the notable advantages is its compatibility with graphics cards from other manufacturers. Additionally, XeSS 3 will be backward compatible with XeSS 2, allowing owners of Intel graphics cards to access the new system through a specific setting called XeSS 3 MFG Override. This feature will enable Multi-Frame Generation even in titles that initially only support the previous version of the technology.

Users with non-Intel graphics cards will need to rely either on native support for XeSS 3 in games or on modifications. Nevertheless, interested players will still be able to experience frame generation, albeit with some limitations.
