The head coach of the New York Islanders, **[Patrik Roy](https://www.championat.com/hockey/news-2283202-glavnyjj-trener-nyu-jork-ajlenders-patrik-rua-sprovodil-individualnuyu-trenirovku-s-rossijskim-vratarem-iljey-sorokinyim.html)**, conducted a one-on-one training session with the team’s Russian goaltender, **Ilya Sorokin**, during which he offered some insights on handling shootouts.

«He asked me how I approach shootouts. Unfortunately, I haven’t encountered many shootouts in my career. However, I shared with him my experience from the Nagano Olympics (the 1998 Winter Olympics — Ed. note). I felt incredibly nervous and let in the very first shot. That was undoubtedly one of the most tense moments of my career. I explained to him that my strategy is to get opponents to make fakes instead of taking direct shots. I’m very thankful he reached out to me; I think that’s a significant step,» Roy told The Hockey News.
