Matvey Safonov Reflects on a Heartwarming New Years Reunion with Friends

Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov of French club Paris Saint-Germain shared that he celebrated the New Year with friends.

«Today, I finally managed to go through my phone and the New Year messages. The holiday season had me a bit overwhelmed.

On the bright side, I was able to reunite with friends. We used to have a lovely tradition of gathering to welcome the New Year together. Last year was the first time that didn’t happen. My move to France and the births of my friends’ children changed things a bit. I’m really pleased that we could come together this year. There was uncertainty regarding visas until the last moment, but everything fell into place as it should.

I enjoyed a truly heartwarming week surrounded by close ones. Now it’s time to refocus, regroup, and move forward. I need to work both on the field and off it,» Safonov wrote on his Telegram channel.
