Medvedevs Final Run in Brisbane Propels Him to 12th in the ATP Rankings

The 2021 US Open champion and the 13th-ranked player in the world, Russian tennis star **Daniil Medvedev**, will ascend to the 12th position in the global rankings following his advancement to the final of the ATP 250 tournament in Brisbane, Australia. In the semifinals, the Russian athlete defeated American Alex Michelsen decisively with a score of 6-4, 6-2.

The Brisbane tournament marks Medvedev’s first competition of the 2026 season. In the final, he will face another American player, Brandon Nakashima.

Prior to this, Medvedev reached the final of an ATP event in October 2025, which took place in Almaty, where he triumphed over Australian James Duckworth. In that final, Medvedev secured victory against Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
