Mortal Kombat 2 Premiere Date Moved Up by One Week Ahead of Release

The creators of the film **»Mortal Kombat 2″** from **Warner Bros.** and **New Line Cinema** have **announced another postponement** of its release date. Initially set to premiere on October 24, the film was pushed back to May 22, 2026, at the end of August. Now, the date has been adjusted once again to May 15.

This delay appears to be aimed at avoiding competition with the film **»The Mandalorian and Grogu,»** which is also scheduled to be released in theaters on May 22 next year. According to the official statement, the premiere of **»Mortal Kombat 2″** was postponed to May because the studio believes that the film will attract a larger audience in the spring than if it were released before Halloween.

**»Mortal Kombat 2″** will continue the saga of Earthrealm warriors battling against invaders from the Outer World. Alongside familiar characters from the first installment, iconic fighters will also join the fray. The emphasis this time will particularly be on Johnny Cage, portrayed by **Karl Urban**.

The screenplay is crafted by writer **Jeremy Slater**, who also serves as an executive producer alongside **Michael Clear**, **Judson Scott**, and **Lawrence Kasanoff**. Furthermore, **Slater** has already been entrusted with developing the story for a full-fledged sequel.
