Only One Russian Fencer Advances to Main Round at 2025 World Championship in Georgia

The preliminary phase of the individual foil tournament at the 2025 World Fencing Championships has concluded. Russian fencer **Dmitry Gusev** successfully passed the qualifying round and advanced to the main draw of the competition.

However, his compatriots **Artyom Sarkisyan, Egor Lomaga, and Pavel Buzinov** were unable to reach the final round of the tournament. The competition for medals in this event will resume on Sunday, July 27.

Earlier, two-time Olympic champion in sabre fencing, Egoryan, secured her spot in the round of 16 at the World Championships in Tbilisi after defeating Yana Sobol from Belarus in the second round.

The World Fencing Championships are being held in Tbilisi, Georgia, from July 22 to July 30. Russian athletes are participating in the event under a neutral status.
