OpenAI Welcomes the Crossing Minds Team to Enhance AI-Driven Recommendations

Crossing Minds, a startup offering AI-driven recommendation systems for e-commerce companies, announced on Thursday that its team will be joining OpenAI.

According to Crunchbase, the startup has received backing from Index Ventures, Shopify, Plug and Play, and Radical Ventures, raising over $13.5 million in several funding rounds.

Crossing Minds has primarily worked with e-commerce firms to enhance their personalization and recommendation systems. The company claims it analyzes customer behavior data on websites to gain insights into purchasing preferences while maintaining privacy.

«Joining OpenAI allows us to integrate our work and values into a mission we deeply respect: to ensure that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity. We are excited to contribute our expertise and energy to a team that is shaping the future of AI. We look forward to learning, contributing, and helping to shape what lies ahead,» wrote the startup’s co-founders in a statement on their website.

Alexandre Robique, one of Crossing Minds’ co-founders, has updated his LinkedIn profile. It is unclear whether the entire Crossing Minds team will be joining OpenAI.

On the Crossing Minds website, it was also stated that the company will no longer be taking on new clients. A archived «About Us» page previously mentioned that Crossing Minds was trusted by Intuit, Anthropic, Udacity, and Chanel.

AI companies have developed a variety of tools that assist users with shopping. Google and Perplexity have launched AI features to enhance recommendations, while startups like Daydream have secured substantial investments to develop AI-powered shopping assistants.

Earlier this year, OpenAI updated ChatGPT to provide recommendations, images, and reviews for products that users inquire about.
