Overcoming Defeat: Anisimova Shares Her Mental Strategy After Grand Slam Finals

The fourth-ranked tennis player in the world, American Amanda Anisimova, shared how she coped psychologically after suffering defeats in Grand Slam finals during the 2025 season.

«It wasn’t easy, for sure. I had to put in some serious work on my mental game, reevaluate everything, and take a moment to contemplate how I would recover and approach the upcoming tournaments, especially if I were to face Iga Swiatek again.

However, I believe it all came quite naturally. I didn’t dwell too much on it—I treated each tournament as a fresh start, a new match. That’s how I kept moving forward,» Anisimova told The Guardian.

In the 2025 season, Anisimova reached the finals of Grand Slam tournaments twice. At Wimbledon, she faced a tough loss, with a score of 0-6, 0-6 to Polish player Iga Swiatek, and in the final of the US Open, she was defeated by the world number one from Belarus, Aryna Sabalenka, with a score of 3-6, 6-7 (3-7).
