Pogacar Reflects on Stage 14 of the 2025 Tour de France, Sends Recovery Wishes to Evenepoel

The esteemed Slovenian cyclist **[Tadej Pogačar](https://example.com/tags/30087-tadej-pogachar)** shared his thoughts on the outcome of the 14th stage of the 2025 Tour de France. He also extended his well-wishes for a speedy recovery to **Remco Evenepoel**, who withdrew from the race.

«We were close to claiming victory in this stage, but Teunissen Aarenesman was exceptionally strong today and fully deserved the win. I have great respect for him. Overall, we can be satisfied with our performance in the Pyrenees. Today’s stage was excellent; we maintained our own pace throughout the day. The conditions were tough due to the weather and the climbs, and the breakaway wasn’t established until the Tourmalet, so the first 70 kilometers were raced at breakneck speed. The descents were a bit intimidating, especially coming down from the Tourmalet.

Jonas [Vingegaard] attacked today, and he was impressive. To be honest, I expected him to make his move a bit earlier. When I managed to neutralize two of his attempts, I realized I didn’t have the power to counterattack and push to the finish line at full throttle. So, I decided to control the stage, keep his wheel, and then sprint at the end. We’ve tackled several mountain stages, and perhaps this was his strongest day in the Pyrenees. I’m sure he will continue to challenge me in the Alps.

It’s unfortunate that **[Remco Evenepoel](https://example.com/tags/35493-remko-evenepul)** had to exit the Tour. I’m not exactly sure what happened, but yesterday we discussed how he should avoid the media frenzy and focus on the present moment. In cycling, you never know how you’ll feel when you wake up or when you’ll be fighting for the podium at the Tour de France again. I wish him a swift recovery,» Pogačar’s words were reported by the press service of the event.
