Portugals Prime Minister Announces Readiness for Formula 1 Return to Portimão in 2027

The 52-year-old Prime Minister of Portugal, **Luís Montenegro**, announced that the country is officially prepared for the return of the Formula 1 stage in Portimão.

«I can confirm that we are fully ready to formally welcome Formula 1 back to the Algarve in 2027,» Montenegro said, as reported by Autosport.

The «Royal Races» first arrived at the Portimão circuit, located in the Algarve region, in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The following race took place in 2021. Lewis Hamilton, who was driving for the German team Mercedes during those seasons, secured victories in both Portuguese races, achieving a record-breaking 92nd career win in 2020.
