Revitalizing Classic Characters: Major Enhancements Coming in the Next Genshin Impact Patch

Gamers have long voiced their grievances about the so-called «power creep» in **Genshin Impact**—recent characters overshadowing those introduced at the game’s launch. At last, **HoYoverse** has taken notice of this issue and is preparing to restore relevance to some older heroes. This and much more was discussed by the developers during a special livestream.

**Genshin Impact** will be updated to version **Luna III: The Song of the Hollow Moon: Interlude — Nocturne of the Far North** on December 3rd. Below are some of the most interesting highlights from the broadcast:

Players will soon be able to acquire the new characters Durin and Berry. Durin hails from the fantastical realm of Simulanke but has taken on a human form through Albedo’s alchemy. This unique rebirth grants him the ability to fight in two distinct forms: one as a support character that reduces enemy resistances and deals area Pyro damage, and the other as a damage dealer capitalizing on Abyssal power to deliver devastating strikes to single targets, amplifying damage from reactions like Melt and Vaporize triggered by Durin himself.

On the other hand, Berry is a member of the Secrets Curatorial and assistant to the most skilled and knowledgeable information trader in all of the Nod-Kra region. Her expertise lies in healing the team and absorbing elements to deal damage. Berry’s elemental burst inflicts Anemo damage and summons a Personal Assistance Coordinator that continuously restores health to the active character.

The weapon wish will feature a new five-star sword called **Atame artis** with critical damage potential, alongside a new ultra-rare bow **Chronicles of Dawn** that boosts critical damage. Players will also have the chance to roll for the signature weapons of other five-star characters introduced in this version.

During the mission «Lessons of the Witches,» gamers will have the opportunity to transform Durin, Venti, Klee, Albedo, Mona, Razor, Fischl, and Sucrose into «witch characters.» A unique quest for each character will provide opportunities for upgrades that reveal their background stories. Notably, these characters will be endowed with special abilities, and constellation effects will be altered.

For instance, when Albedo’s Solar Blossom hits an enemy and creates the Transitory Flower, a Silver Flower will also appear on the battlefield, which is immune to damage from monsters and will attack like the Solar Blossom. It is important to note that the new abilities from the «Little Witch’s Dictionary» will not unlock unless there are at least two Witch characters in the party.

If the party includes at least two Witch characters, the «Witchcraft: Secret Rite» effect will be activated, enhancing the team’s combat capabilities. For example, if Klee teams up with another Witch character, her normal attack will automatically trigger a charged attack when executed in a coordinated manner. Additionally, upcoming tweaks will smooth out Klee’s normal and charged attacks.

After completing the introductory quest of the «Little Witch’s Dictionary,» players can invite Razor, Sucrose, or Fischl into their party.
