Rockstar Employees Protest Layoffs and Demand Union Rights

In London and Edinburgh, employees of **Rockstar North** and **Take-Two Interactive** held protests outside the offices following layoffs linked to unionization efforts. These demonstrations were organized by the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB).

According to IWGB organizer **Fred Carter**, many workers were «shocked» to witness such blatant disrespect and disregard for employees’ rights to form a union.

Some of the affected employees reported that they received no prior warnings and were not given the opportunity to voice their perspective. One impacted individual stated, *»We didn’t disclose information or seek to harm the company. We supported each other and tried to understand our workplace to make it better.»*

IWGB claims that **Rockstar** terminated around 30 staff members in the UK and Canada, who were either part of the union or were attempting to organize one. In response, the company stated that the dismissals pertained to «a small number of individuals who disseminated confidential information on public forums,» including the IWGB Discord channel. The union denied these allegations.

Amidst the protests, parent company **Take-Two Interactive** released its **financial results** and also announced yet another delay for the release of **Grand Theft Auto VI**, now set for November 19, 2026. CEO **Strauss Zelnick** expressed confidence in the new launch timeline, stating, *»We are doing everything possible to create the most remarkable interactive entertainment experience in history, and **Rockstar** shares our goal – we are very pleased with this process.»*
