Rodnina Discusses Messenger Call Blockade and Its Impact on Her Communication with Daughter

Three-time Olympic figure skating champion and State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina commented on the recent blocking of calls via messaging apps that has affected many Russians. According to the champion, this has made it more difficult for her to communicate with her daughter, Alena Minkovskaya, who has been living in the United States for several years and is a citizen there.

«This situation has impacted me as well. However, I still believe that such serious measures were necessary. We must recognize that we are currently facing a complex situation. The state has to make tough decisions for our own safety first and foremost.

Regarding my communication with my daughter, there are challenges we are experiencing. But we will get through this. It complicates communication significantly; we are used to being in touch regularly. If we approach this with understanding, everything will be fine. I hope she understands the situation; I’ve explained everything to her.

To me, these restrictions are a temporary measure. I don’t know when things will return to normal, but there will be an announcement about it. After all, the pandemic also came to an end eventually. For those who are feeling very anxious, I would suggest getting involved in sports instead,» Rodnina was quoted by Sport24.

Rodnina herself lived in the US for many years after moving there in the 1990s to work at a figure skating center in Los Angeles.
