Serbia Implements Strict Security Measures for Upcoming World Cup Qualifier Against Albania

The Football Association of Serbia has announced additional security measures in anticipation of the upcoming match against Albania in the 7th round of the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. The game is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 11, at the Rajko Mitić Stadium in Belgrade.

Recently, an individual was arrested in Serbia for attempting to smuggle flags and clothing associated with the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), which is considered an extremist group by Serbian authorities.

«This incident highlights the level of risk associated with this match, so all security protocols will be strictly enforced without exception. The Football Association of Serbia fully supports the relevant authorities in implementing all security measures.

Tickets for the match will be strictly personalized, and entry to the stadium will not be allowed if the name on the ticket does not match the name on the identification document. We warn that any illegal ticket purchases will only result in wasted money, as entry will be prohibited in such cases.

Due to the heightened security, all lighters, metal coins, and other hard objects will be confiscated at the entrance to the stadium. Security checks will be conducted at two points. Therefore, we urge all fans with valid tickets to arrive early to ensure their timely entrance and adherence to the rules.

The safety of players, officials, fans, and all those involved in the match is the absolute priority of the Football Association of Serbia and government entities. The security service has stated that it will not tolerate anything that might jeopardize the match or cause harm to the national team, the Federation, and the state of Serbia.

All law enforcement agencies will respond professionally, decisively, and promptly to any attempts to incite incidents or disrupt peace and order. The Football Association of Serbia thanks all fans for their understanding and calls on them to support our national team in a sporting, dignified, and fair manner,» reads the official statement from the Football Association of Serbia on social media platform X.
